On October 14, in a tragic incident onboard a cruise ship, a 8 year old girl reportedly died after falling from the upper deck.
What happened?
The Miami-Dade police department was called in to investigate the death of a 8-year old girl who fell on a Carnival cruise ship.
The little girl fell onboard the cruise ship ‘Carnival Glory’ fell from a deck in the ship’s interior atrium to the lower deck, according to the report.
Child rushed to hospital:
The Carnival Cruise Lines spokeswoman Jayme Eglin, “The ship’s medical team responded immediately and the child was transported to the ship’s medical center”.
The little girl was rushed to the to Jackson Memorial Hospital Ryder Trauma Center, less than five miles from the port, where she died, police said. The little girl is suspected to have fallen from a height of about 20 feet.
The police have initiated investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident and the angle of suspected foul play has not been ruled out.
Cruise ship resumes journey:
The ship was turned back over to Carnival Cruise Lines to resume its journey. Various travel websites showed that the Carnival Glory was scheduled to depart Saturday on another seven-night cruise to the Western Caribbean.
The girl’s death was not the first time tragedy had struck the Carnival Glory, which was built in 2003. In 2015, Cameron Smook, a 21-year-old Virginia Tech senior, died after accidentally falling overboard the ship.
