On April 26, a massive cocaine haul was busted by Spanish police.
Spanish police discovered nearly nine tons of cocaine concealed in a banana shipment from Colombia.
This massive haul is touted to be the first European record for drugs found inside a shipping container.
Six people arrested
Interior Minister Juan Ignacio Zoido said, “Six people have been arrested, four of them in Spain and two in the French city of Lyon”.
The police and customs officials seized the 8.74-ton cocaine stash worth £800,000,000. The consignment was discovered aboard a cargo ship that docked in the southern Spanish port of Algeciras.
Fight against peddlers to continue
Senor Zoido said, “Operations like these demonstrate the magnificent work of the forces of law and order and show the fight against drug smuggling is a real priority for us. We are going to continue to hunt down drug smugglers at sea, land and in the air. ‘People who smuggle drugs and those that help them should know that sooner or later they are going to pay for it”.
