Maersk container ship anchor was found fouled and can not shelter from storm, reports Maritime Bulletin.
All ships anchored at Cape Town anchorage were advised to shelter from oncoming storm, or to sail further off to sea, to wait storm out, on July 12-13.
Anchor fouls in container ship
Container ship JPO LIBRA failed to heave up anchor on July 13, because anchor got fouled in other chain.
The ship is holding on against wind and waves and anchored. The ship does not drag and is not drifting, so there is no immediate danger of accident.
Anchor can not be disentangled until weather improves. As of 1400 UTC July 13, the ship remained in the same position.
