Kawasaki Launches Next Generation LNG-fuelled Car Carrier

  • Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha started construction of the next generation LNG-fuelled car carrier.
  • The vessel is estimated to be completed within the 2020 fiscal year.
  • The main engine is a dual-fuel diesel engine ME-GI with exhaust gas recirculation system (EGR).
  • Meets NOx tier III requirements even in diesel mode, offering flexibility in the choice of fuel.

Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (“K” Line) launches its next-generation liquified natural gas (LNG) fuelled car carrier, reports Manifold Times.

Japanese maritime transportation company Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (“K” Line) said the construction began on 31 July. 

According to the company, the estimated completion is within the 2020 fiscal year.

About the vessel

The main engine on this vessel is a dual-fuel diesel engine ME-GI with exhaust gas recirculation system (EGR) to apply with NOx Tier III.

“K” Line added that the auxiliary engines are:

  • dual-fuel diesel engines which conform to NOx Tier III in gas mode and
  • designed to meet NOx tier III requirements even in diesel mode, offering flexibility in the choice of fuel.
