GTT Bags Tank Design Deal for 6 LNG Carriers

  • GTT to design tanks for six new LNG Carriers.
  • Two of the LNGCs will be built by HSHI and the other four LNGCs will be built by HHI.
  • Each vessel capacity is 174,000 m3. 
  • GTT tanks designed for the vessels will be fitted with the Mark III Flex membrane containment system. 

GTT received a tank design deal for six LNG carriers from HHI and HSHI, says a press release published on their website.

Tank design for six LNGCs

GTT has received an order from Korean shipyards Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) and Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries (HSHI) for the tank design of six LNGCs. 

To be built by HSHI 

Two of these LNGCs will be built by HSHI on behalf of a European ship-owner. 

To be built by HHI

The other four LNGCs will be built by HHI, two on behalf of an Asian ship-owner and two on behalf of a European ship-owner.

About the vessels and delivery

Design

Each vessel will offer a capacity of 174,000 m3. GTT will design the tanks of the vessels, which will be fitted with the Mark III Flex membrane containment system. 

Delivery

The delivery of the vessels is planned between the second and the last quarters of 2023.

Customer requirements met

Philippe Berterottière, Chairman and CEO of GTT said they were pleased to sign the new contract with the Hyundai Group shipyards.
