What happened?
Dredger OCEANLINE 5001 struck anchored tanker STROVOLOS at full speed. The tanker was with moored alongside supply vessel. The dredger struck tanker at around 1140 LT (UTC +8) Oct 2, on Melaka anchorage, Malaysia, Malacca Strait.
Damages reported
Tanker suffered a portside hull breach above the waterline and some damage on the cargo deck.
Ships separated
- After a few hours the ships were separated.
- The tanker remained in the same position.
- The dredger was moved to the port area, and brought to anchor.
