Two Turkish cargo ships operated by the same company anchored to perform crew transfer operation by a rescue boat turned out to be tragic, reports Maritime Bulletin.
What happened?
Two cargo ships, bulk carrier SERVET ANA and general cargo ship BAKU, met outside Liberian territorial waters. They were anchored to perform crew transfer operation by a rescue boat.
Crew transfer
Two crew from SERVET ANA were to be transferred to BAKU, understood as off-signers, to be taken to Turkey.
Boat Capsized
Unfortunately, the boat with 2 off-signers and 2 boat personnel, capsized.
CE died
SERVET ANA had to deploy a lifeboat (free-fall type) to rescue seamen. All 4 were picked up, but one of them, reportedly Chief Engineer, died, despite all first-aid efforts.
