Freighter Loaded With Grain Runs Aground

Turkish general cargo ship with cargo of millet ran aground on Nov 3 in Azov – Don Sea Canal, reports Maritime Bulletin. 

What happened?

General cargo ship SEMA ran aground at around 0345 UTC Nov 3 in Azov – Don Sea Canal. She was en route from Rostov on Don to Mersin Turkey, with cargo of millet. 

The ship obviously strayed off the fairway. The cause is still unknown. Reports say that it may be caused by mechanical failure or navigational fault. 

About the vessel

As of 1200 UTC Nov 3, the ship was still aground, with tugs already on site.
