What happened?
General cargo ship HAYATO collided with a fishing vessel while approaching Kashima port, Honshu east coast north of Tokyo, at around 0530 Tokyo time Nov 28.
According to reports, the fishing boat partially sank, with her bow part still above water.
Rescue measures
All 12 people on board were rescued. According to reports, all sustained injuries, and later 1 was declared dead.
