Event Gathering

Matthieu Somekh, CEO of ZeBox, the international startup incubator and accelerator initiated by the Chairman and CEO of the CMA CGM Group Rodolphe Saadé, joined the Singapore Maritime Technology Conference. CMA CGM’s Digitalization Announcement

During the Singapore Maritime Week, the CMA CGM Group also announced it joined the digitalPORT@SGTM PHASE 2 that is designed to increase port efficiency and reduce business costs. The platform provides real-time information for port stakeholders to better coordinate, plan and allocate port resources, so that calling ships can optimize their sailing speed, route or time of arrival to achieve berth-on-arrival and seamless delivery of marine services in the port.

Digital transformation is a strategic pillar of the CMA CGM Group strategy as its search for solutions globally continues. Singapore is a main hub for these innovation initiatives, with some key projects:

CMA CGM’s Collaborations

Incomlend

CMA CGM collaborates with Incomlend, a Singapore-based invoice finance platform. Through this, a range of reliable and rapid financial services are offered to importing and exporting customers who wish to improve or free up their working capital.

Portcast

The Group has partnered with this Singapore-based start-up to improve volume forecast reliability using predictive analytics.

National University of Singapore

The Group is also developing a joint pilot project with one of Singapore’s top autonomous universities that involves building a decision support system for the stowage planning of container vessels.

Energy Transition

Committed to energy transition of the shipping and logistics industry, the CMA CGM Group harnesses the most effective technologies available. With Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), the Group uses the optimum solution already available for reducing the carbon footprint of shipping and preserving air quality.

LNG Bunkering Operations

Aligned with Singapore’s ambition to be a leading Liquefied Natural Gas bunkering hub in Asia, CMA CGM has recently undertaken LNG bunkering operations at the Port of Singapore.

First ship-to-containership LNG bunkering operation in Asia:

On 24 March, the CMA CGM SCANDOLA was fueled during the first ship-to-containership LNG bunkering operation in Asia. She was also the first ship in Asia to conduct simultaneous container loading and discharging operations alongside LNG bunkering operations, shortening port stay time.

Bunkering of the world’s largest LNG-powered containership, the CMA CGM JACQUES SAADE:

Three weeks later, the CMA CGM JACQUES SAADE was also fuelled at the port of Singapore for the first time. This makes her the largest container vessel to conduct ship-to-ship LNG bunkering operations in Asia. The milestone voyage also saw CMA CGM JACQUES SAADE setting a new world record of the highest number of full containers aboard a single vessel.

Energy Coalition

In 2019, Rodolphe Saadé, Chairman and CEO of the Group, initiated the Coalition for the Energy of the Future which aims at accelerating the development of future energies and technologies. In 2021, the Coalition welcomed three more companies including PSA International, a leading global port group and trusted partner to cargo stakeholders with flagship operations in Singapore.

Asia Pacific Hub

Singapore is home to the CMA CGM Group in the Asia Pacific. The Singapore-based hub is instrumental in driving the Group’s development in the region and delivering end-to-end shipping and logistics solutions. It oversees trade management of all exports from Asia via CMA CGM and intra-Asia short-sea services through CNC. Covering Oceania is ANL Container Line Pty. Limited, a subsidiary of the Singapore-based hub.
