The accident happened around 5 a.m on Sep 28 in the Strait of Georgia, north of the Tsawwassen ferry terminal. It is reported that the tug while starting to tow a boat got uncontrolled ingress of water. The crew managed to escape by climbing onto an aluminum boat that was behind the tug. There were no casualties reported. The local authorities sent a notice of navigation danger for ships and to mariners in the vicinity.
The authorities and coast guard are investigating the cause and are examining the scene for the oil leak.
