ExxonMobil has added Mobil SHC Aware Hydraulic Series oils and Mobil SHC Aware Grease EP 0 to its range of high performance marine lubricants.
Both are formulated to meet the US Vessel General Permit (VGP) requirements for Environmentally Acceptable Lubricants (EALs) making them ideal for deck and underwater machinery operating in areas where environmental protection regulations are in force. The lubricants offer excellent protection, even in challenging marine operating conditions. The hydraulic oils also meet EU Ecolabel regulations, reports ShipInsight.
Range of Performance Benefits
Mobil SHC Aware Hydraulic Series can be used in hydraulic winches, ramps, hatches, doors, cranes, pumps and other deck equipment. Its balanced formulation helps to deliver a range of performance benefits, including:
- Protection across a wide temperature range
- Superior low-temperature start-up
- High resistance to oxidation and thermal damage as well as excellent shear stability, which helps ensure a long operating life
Protect System Components
Mobil SHC Aware Hydraulic Series oils have the potential to improve hydraulic efficiency, compared with ExxonMobil’s standard hydraulic fluids. The lubricants can also protect system components against wear and scuffing, which can deliver long equipment life and reduce maintenance between dry docks.
Mobil SHC Aware Grease EP 0 is especially suitable for use in rudder stocks. Benefits include:
- Reliable performance across a wide temperature range
- Excellent bearing protection, as well as rust and corrosion resistance
- Superb adhesion and resistance to water washout, avoiding the need for frequent regreasing
Mobil SHC Aware Hydraulic Series
“Vessel operators increasingly need lubricants that combine high performance with regulatory compliance – that’s why we are adding Mobil SHC Aware Hydraulic Series and Mobil SHC Aware Grease EP 0 to our range of EALs,” said Frans Horjus, global marine lubricants sales manager at ExxonMobil. “The lubricants provide outstanding performance across a range of applications, even under harsh conditions, safeguarding equipment against unscheduled maintenance and associated costs.”
