Port of Long Beach sees tremendous growth as activities are returning to its pre-recession times.  The port officials attribute this record to seasonal delivery of costumes and decorations cargo pertaining to upcoming fall holiday season.

2015 September saw nearly 656,000 containers moving through the port.  This is a 4.1% increase, compared to September 2014.  This could break the port’s old record of 7.31 million containers in 2007.  September 2015 also scored a record quarter in which 2 million containers moved through the port, a 14.8 percent increase over the same period last year.

Jon Slangerup, chief executive for the port is reported to have said:

“In recent months, Long Beach has seen a robust return of once-diverted cargo.  We greatly appreciate our shippers’ continued confidence in the Port of Long Beach.”
