The world’s first subsea gas compression system went on stream on September 17, 2015. The Aker solutions-built Subsea gas compression system was opened officially under water depths. Statoil provided the contract to Aker Solutions in December 2010.
The 1800-metric ton steel frame consists of:
- Modules for two identical sets of compressors
- Pumps
- Scrubbers
- Coolers

- Structure size: 75m x 45m x 20m
- Weight: 4800 tonnes
- Max. capacity: 21 MSm3 /d (gas)
- Water depth: 250-325 metres
- Step-out: 40 kilometres
- New volumes: 306 million barrels of oil equivalent from the Mikkel and Midgard reservoirs
