SBM Offshore and Petrobras Ink 26-year FPSO Deal

SBM Offshore has signed contracts with Brazil’s Petrobras for the 26-year lease and operation of the Almirante Tamandaré FPSO, the Amsterdam-based company said Tuesday. A Recent News article from Xindemarine briefly explains this.

Expected Delivery of FPSO in the second half of 2024

The platform will be deployed at the Búzios field in the Santos basin, approximately 180km off Rio de Janeiro state.SBM said in a statement it is progressing with the design and construction using its Fast4Ward program. Delivery of the FPSO is expected in the second half of 2024. The value of the deal, originally announced in February, was not provided.

Brazil’s largest FPSO to produce 225,000b/d of oil by 2024

According to Petrobras’ 2021-25 business plan, the first oil of the production unit – which will be Brazil’s largest FPSO, with the capacity to produce 225,000b/d of oil – is scheduled for 2024.

Almirante Tamandaré is one of 13 new FPSOs the Brazilian NOC intends to deploy in the five-year period. The others are:

– The Carioca FPSO, which has been chartered with Japan’s Modec, and is set to begin operations in August at the Sépia field;

– Guanabara (Modec/1Q22/Mero 1);

– Almirante Barroso (Modec/2022/Búzios 5);

– P-71 (Petrobras-owned platform/2023/Itapu);

– Sepetiba (SBM Offshore/2023/Mero 2);

– Anita Garibaldi (Modec/2023/Marlim 1);

– Anna Nery (Yinson/2023/Marlim 2);

– Integrado Parque das Baleias (being tendered/2024/Parque das Baleias);

– Marechal Duque de Caxias (Misc/2024/Mero 3);

– P-78 (Petrobras-owned/ 2025/Búzios 7);

– P-79 (Petrobras-owned/2025/Búzios 8); and

– Mero 4 (being tendered/2025/Mero 4.
