A product tanker was attacked in the morning Jul 29 in Arabian sea, while ballasting from Tanzania to Fujayrah UAE, reports Channel News Asia.
What happened?
The Product tanker came under attack on Thursday in what the company described as suspected piracy.
But the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), which provides maritime security information, said earlier it was not piracy.
Tanker managed by a billionaire’s company
Britain’s military said on Friday it was investigating reports that an oil tanker managed by a billionaire’s company had been attacked in the Arabian Sea.
“UK military headquarters in the region are currently conducting investigations,” the Ministry of Defence in London said in a short statement.
AIS missing
According to FleetMon reports, the tanker went adrift shortly after attack, near attack site. As of 1250 UTC Jul 30, AIS missing from last 15 hours.
