Grounded Tanker Refloated Off Portugal

The tanker Tokyo Spirit was refloated on Sunday from Lisbon.

150,000 DWT crude oil tanker Tokyo Spirit grounded on Saturday near Lisbon, Portugal just outside the breakwater at the Cascais marina.  The vessel grounded due to stormy weather.  This vessel nearly touching the breakwater of the Cascais marina in Portugal was refloated on sunday with the help of tugs.  The ship was to be towed to a local repair yard. Reports state no environmental damage from the incident.

A Bahamas-flagged crude oil tanker is now owned by Teekay Tankers.  This 2006 built vessel was previously managed by Principal Maritime and named Princimar Loyalty.

All 22 crew members remain safe onboard the ship.
