The NUTEP terminal in the Black Sea port of Novorossiysk is a subsidiary of DeloPorts and the sister company to multimodal transport specialist Ruscon.  It is already the largest container terminal in the port but currently handles most deep sea cargo via transhipment at Istanbul or Piraeus. Construction of its deepwater berth is underway.  With this new deep water berth the terminal can offer regular year-round ice-free calls for vessels up to 10,000 teu for the first time.

Highlights:

  • There is going to be a  new 341 m quay.
  • Planning and approval has taken two long years of time.
  • The berth depth will be 15.6 m(Presently it is 12.3).
  • The LOA (load line) will increase from 270 m to 320 m.
  • Containerships of up to 10,000 teu in size to make regular calls.
  • The Project completion is scheduled for late 2018.
  • The NUTEP terminal spreads upto 26.5 ha.
  • It is expected to double its capacity to handle 700,000 teu per annum as part of the project.

“The new deepwater quay will alter the status quo on the Black Sea and change existing supply chain networks in the region.  It will reduce both shipping and terminal costs for clients and increase delivery speed by 4-12 days for cargo headed for Russia.” comments, Konstantin Kalugin, CCO of NUTEP.
