The BBC Chartering cargo ship ran aground on a rock on December 17th in Lake Saint-Louis, Quebec. The ship suffered damages in its bow thruster and leaked a minor quantity of hydraulic oil.
An investigation is underway by the investigators deployed by Transportation Safety Board of Canada. In an earlier incident, the ship’s hull was impaired when the ship lost power off the coast of Cape Breton in 2013. During a commercial tow operation, the vessel stuck in ice and ice breaking maneuvers by the Canadian Coast Guard resulted in hull damage.
