A Vessel carrying livestock experienced engine troubles last Tuesday.  As a result It will  remain in Perth, Western Australia, for at least another three days.

About 7,400 sheep and 5,600 cattle remain on board.  Wellard CEO Mauro Balzarini said the vessel destined for Israel had a cylinder malfunction in one of its engines.

Mr Balzarini said animal welfare remained the top priority.  The vessel obviously has a very powerful ventilation system and automatic distribution systems for water and feed.

Concern remains for animals. “The other thing we did was we had another vessel of a similar size to stand by”.
