  • “Given that there are fewer booster shots being given to Hispanic, Latinx people, that then contributes to them being even more at risk, even though they’ve still been vaccinated.”

According to new state data, almost 80% of patients hospitalised with COVID are unvaccinated. Even if they’re vaccinated, you may have heard of more people you know having COVID recently as reported by 9News.

Breakthrough cases

Although breakthrough cases are growing more common, experts claim that they are not the cause of the increase.

“Breakthrough infections play a role, but it’s important to underline that it’s a tiny role,” said Dr Jared Eddy, head of National Jewish Health’s Infection Control and Prevention. According to fresh data given by the state, there are around four times more COVID instances among unvaccinated people than among those who are vaccinated as of late October.

According to Eddy, the rest frequently fall into the high-risk category.

The median age of unvaccinated individuals admitted to hospitals in the last month is 58.

The amount of time that has passed since persons were vaccinated is a factor in outbreaks.

Booster vaccination

Centura Health’s chief diversity and inclusion officer is Dr Ozzie Grenardo.

Because Hispanic and Latinx persons receive fewer booster injections, they are put at even greater risk, even though they have been vaccinated.

If someone tests positive, the antibodies may be able to help keep symptoms to a minimum.

Earlier in the pandemic, there was a scarcity of supplies.

“This is the busiest hospital emergency department I’ve ever seen in my career,” Zane added.
