Japan Records An Increase In New Ship Export Orders

According to figures issued by the Japan Ship Exporters’ Association (JSEA), Japanese new ship export orders increased by 10.8% on a tonnage basis in November of this year as reported by Steel Orbis.

On a tonnage basis, Japanese new ship export orders increased by 10.8% in November compared to the previous month, rising to 30 ships from 15 in October, totalling 1,235,690 gross tonnes, including 20 bulk carriers, one tanker, and nine general cargo ships.

Japanese shipbuilders secured fresh export orders for a total of 293 ships worth a total of 14.56 million gross tonnes in the first 11 months of this year, up 127.8% year on year.

Japan, on the other hand, delivered 19 ships for export in November, totalling 841,231 gross tonnes, compared to 14 ships totalling 731,210 gross tonnes in October.

Meanwhile, Japan shipped 205 ships for export in the first 11 months of this year, totalling 9.64 million gross tonnes, down 11.3% year on year.
