Fire Onboard Tanker

Fire erupted on board of tanker in Black sea some 8 nm east of Taman, Russia, reports Maritime Bulletin.

What happened?

Reportedly fire broke out in engine room, of 7 crew several were evacuated, but as reportedly, later returned to the ship. Tanker is said to have some 700 tons of heavy fuel in cargo tanks, but fire is restricted to engine room only.

Fire under control

3 tugs and SAR ship SPASATEL DEMIDOV responded, fire was said to be under control in the afternoon (Moscow time), but as of 1340 UTC (1640 Moscow time) tugs and SAR ship were still in the area, tanker AIS missing during last 17 hours.
