Kongsberg Maritime has divided its propeller systems into three separate categories: C-Line, P-Line, and X-Line to cater to all customer requirements, reports Riviera.
About the propeller line
The company said this will “ensure the provision of reliable, safe, high-quality and high-performing propeller solutions which are adapted to all customer-specific requirements and pricing levels.”
The demarcations are as follows:
C-Line propellers are configured within a predefined technical spectrum to suit customers whose priorities are short lead times and a strong performance-to-cost ratio. Numerous options are available within the C-Line propeller to fine-tune the offering further.
P-Line propellers prioritise performance, and are suited for customers prioritising propeller requirements such as the highest efficiency and the lowest levels of noise and vibration.
Multiple options are offered, and the company said an expert Kongsberg engineer will consult closely with customers to ensure P-Line propellers are designed to their exact hydrodynamic and mechanical specifications.
X-Line denotes ‘extreme’. These tailored propeller are intended for customers with an exceptional requirement for special features which go well beyond usual use.
Kongsberg will establish “close collaboration” with customers opting for X-Line propellers, appointing a Kongsberg project team and possibly extending that to include R&D for new arrangements.
Kongsberg Maritime vice president propulsion and engine sales Trond Paulsen said, “The CPX lines give us great flexibility as well as allowing us a quicker response time when dealing with shipyards and designers. The clear definitions within CPX allow Kongsberg to remain flexible while still being competitive on almost all vessel types above 1,000 kW. We believe this will help us to grow market shares for propellers, both as standalone items and complete solutions.”
