Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME), a Korean shipyard, has contracted GTT, a French LNG containment specialist, to develop tanks for new LNG carriers, says an article published in Offshore Energy.
New LNG carriers
GTT said in a statement on May 24 that it had obtained this order from its Korean shipyard partner DSME the previous month.
The order particularly mentions two new LNG vessels’ tank designs.
GTT will design the tanks for these two new vessels, each with a total LNG tank capacity of 174,000 cbm, according to the order.
Membrane system
The NO96 GW membrane containment system will be used in each tank.
The first LNGC will be delivered by DSME in the third quarter of 2025, followed by the second in the third quarter of 2026.
Both the shipyard and the IT specialist refused to provide any additional information.
