Technip Energies and Samsung Engineering have been granted a pre-final investment decision engineering contract for the Texas LNG project in Brownsville, Texas, says an article published in Riviera.
Compact modular design
The proposed 4-mta LNG export project is located on the deepwater ship channel of the Port of Brownsville, adjacent to the Gulf of Mexico.
Technip will serve as the primary project contractor, responsible for project design and delivery, in a joint venture with Samsung Engineering.
The project will make use of Technip’s SnapLNG technology, which was developed in collaboration with Air Products and Chemicals Inc., an American industrial supplier.
SnapLNG is a mid-scale railway that blends a tiny modular design concept with standardised components and technology.
Low-carbon
Technip senior vice president gas and low-carbon energies Loic Chapuis said, “We are pleased to have been selected by Texas LNG to lead the front-end engineering design and project delivery and to integrate our modular SnapLNG solution, which is well-suited for the North America market.”

Export to global markets
Texas LNG has received complete approval from the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and the US Department of Energy to export LNG to worldwide markets. In 2025, the first exports should be available.
