Sinopec Is Now A Licenced Bunker Supplier In Singapore

Sinopec, a Chinese energy company, has become the first new addition to Singapore’s list of certified bunker suppliers since April 2020 as reported by Ship & Bunker

New addition

According to a document on the Singapore authority’s website, Sinopec Fuel Oil (Singapore) Pte Ltd has been added to the Maritime and Port Authority’s list of licenced bunker suppliers as of June 1. Marine diesel oil, marine gas oil, and fuel oil are among the products offered by the company.

Since 2020, Sinopec has played a larger role in the marine fuel arena, thanks to a long-awaited tax refund on fuel oil in China, which has helped to incentivize the production and export of ultra-low sulphur fuel oil.

Singapore licences

Sinopec also operates a 50:50 bunkering joint venture with BP, BP Sinopec Marine Fuels, situated in Singapore. It’s unclear how this collaboration will be affected.

Sinopec brings the total number of licenced suppliers on the list to 42. Since Minerva Bunkering and TFG Marine received their Singapore licences in April 2020, this is the first addition.

In 2012, there were a total of 73 providers.
