The Shipping world is undergoing a sea change and special importance is being given for emission and environmental protection. However, the situation is sad and poor when it comes to the safety of seafarers. Though there are multiple safety campaigns, tool box talks, training and risk assessments, accidents continue to happen.
It is sad to know that two Indian seafarers were killed in a boiler explosion on board the vessel Al Saada, off Oman. India’s external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj said three others were injured. She added on Twitter: “We have lost two Indian sailors, Mahesh Kumar Rajagopal and Deepu Lathika Mohan, due to fire in a vessel Al Sadaa. My condolences.” Below are the snapshots of the tweets!
