Blow wind blow! Two of our Ultra Large Container Vessels have had their bow wind shields erected by ONE in conjunction with our partners (20,000 TEU), as posted on LinkedIn.

Green initiative

One of the green initiatives made as part of ONE’s green strategy is the Bow Wind Shield, which will help the company provide greener services and cut down on CO2 emissions. With all of our upcoming new construction, ONE will keep installing the Bow Wind Shield.

Patrick Neo (Engineering manager) elaborates on how it works and is able to help the environment :

This lessens the drag created as the ship is moving. Despite being significantly less dense than water, air’s kinematic viscosity nevertheless affects speed significantly. With a correct aerodynamic bow above the container, it will lower the drag on the total resistance on the vessel, resulting in a reduction in fuel consumption and ultimately a reduction in GHG. When the speed increases, the drag induce will increase non-linearly.
