A Syrian owned general cargo ship ran aground in the afternoon of Apr 4 in Aegean sea off Kos island, Greece. Vessel with 15 crew members is reported to have refloated by itself after several hours.
The ship fully laden with silica sand was en route from Egypt’s El-arish to Turkey’s Gemlink port.
There were no reports of injuries or pollution following the grounding and the ship was later taken to Kos anchorage for inspection.
