Scorpio Tankers announced it will exercise purchase options on five MR tanker built between 2019 and 2020, says an article published on Seatrade-maritime.
Operates on bareboat charters
STI Mighty and STI Maestro were built in 2020 and STI Modest, STI Maverick, and STI Milennia were built in 2019. The purchase of the ships is expected to happen in July and bring a debt reduction of $119.4m for Scorpio.
The vessels are the latest ships come under Scorpio’s ownership as the company has sought to buy back vessels sold on sale and leaseback deals, and purchase vessels it operates on bareboat charters.
Strong set
Scorpio Tankers recently announced a strong set of first quarter results, doubling its revenue and returning to profit in the first three months of 2023.
