Wärtsilä has secured a contract to supply a Wärtsilä 20 engine to Denmark’s SIMAC for use in their machinery laboratories, providing power to the local grid. Order is to be confirmed in June 2023, as reported by Wartsila.
Wärtsilä Engine for Hands-On Training
The Svendborg International Maritime Academy (SIMAC) is set to establish a state-of-the-art laboratory centred around a Wärtsilä engine. The laboratory will feature a control room and auxiliary systems to accurately simulate a real engine room environment. This initiative aims to provide students with valuable hands-on experience by allowing them to train on modern equipment that may be operational on ships in their future careers. Lisbeth Anna Skrae, the Head of Education at SIMAC, emphasizes that the Wärtsilä equipment will ensure that students have access to up-to-date training resources, enabling them to be well-prepared for the challenges they may face at sea. The partnership with Wärtsilä Denmark A/S extends beyond the engine lab, fostering deeper collaboration and exploring opportunities for enhanced learning experiences.
