Amogy Inc., a leading provider of high-energy, emission-free ammonia power solutions, has officially launched its operations in Singapore. The company has appointed Svein Erik Oeiestad, an experienced professional in the maritime industry, as the Head of Business Development and Sales for the region. By establishing a foothold in Singapore, Amogy aims to enhance its strategic presence in Asia, particularly in the maritime and power generation sectors, as reported by Cision.
Emission-free ammonia
Amogy Inc., a pioneer in emission-free ammonia power solutions, is expanding its presence in Asia, starting with operations in Singapore. The company’s proprietary ammonia-cracking technology aims to harness ammonia as a clean energy source, supporting global decarbonization efforts and energy security. Ammonia is predicted to become the primary fuel for the global merchant fleet by 2050, aligning with the International Maritime Organization’s goal to reduce shipping emissions by 50%. Various Asian countries, including South Korea and India, are exploring ammonia power generation to reduce carbon emissions and enhance energy security.
Zero-carbon power generation
Singapore’s Maritime & Port Authority (MPA) and Energy Market Authority (EMA) have initiated an Expression of Interest (EOI) process to develop low or zero-carbon power generation and bunkering projects on Jurong Island, with a focus on ammonia power as a pathway to decarbonization. Amogy has partnerships with Marco Polo Marine, Temasek, and Synergy Marine Group. They are actively working towards building an ammonia-powered vessel and have received pre-orders for their ammonia-to-power technology. Amogy supports Singapore’s efforts and aims to collaborate with the government and private sector to realize clean ammonia power for maritime shipping and power generation. Singapore has committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
