I had the opportunity to embark on Carnival Venezia, the newest addition to Carnival Cruise Line’s fleet, for its inaugural cruise from New York City. Following an exciting four-day journey, I’ve compiled a list of ten compelling reasons why you should consider taking a cruise on Carnival Venezia.

Among the ships I’ve sailed on, Carnival Venezia stands out as one of my favourites. I had the pleasure of experiencing this vessel during a previous cruise with sister company Costa Cruises last summer. What sets it apart is its captivating Italian-themed design, offering a refreshing departure from the traditional Carnival Funship atmosphere. As a Vista-class ship, those familiar with Carnival Vista, Horizon, or Panorama will find the layout quite familiar. Cabins
Reflecting the ship’s overall upscale ambience, the staterooms on Carnival Venezia exude a sense of elegance. Setting it apart from most Carnival ships, the staterooms feature glass doors instead of curtains in the showers, a design element shared only with Mardi Gras and Carnival Celebration. These cabins offer a combination of comfort and cleanliness, with subtle details that distinguish them from typical Carnival staterooms. Notably, a beautiful Venice-themed photograph adorns the wall, while the drapes are adorned with rope holdbacks, adding a luxurious touch. Although these may seem like small details, they collectively contribute to a heightened sense of sophistication, providing guests with an elevated and refined experience.
Indoor/Outdoor Pool
Having a retractable roof for the main pool is a highly desirable feature that I wish every cruise ship offered. The convenience of being able to use the pool area regardless of the weather conditions is a game-changer. During our visit to Bermuda, where it rained for most of the day, the roof was closed, allowing passengers to still enjoy the pool area. This flexibility not only ensures that guests can make the most of their time onboard during inclement weather but also helps to distribute passengers throughout the ship on rainy or colder days. It’s a fantastic addition that enhances the overall cruise experience.
Il Viaggio
Introducing a fresh speciality restaurant concept, Carnival Venezia presents Il Viaggio, a delightful addition to its culinary offerings. I had the pleasure of dining at this new Italian eatery and found it to surpass the experience at Cucina del Capitano, available on other Carnival cruise ships. The food at Il Viaggio was exceptional, boasting delicious flavours, and the portion sizes were generous, ensuring that diners arrived with hearty appetites. It’s a culinary destination that truly elevates the dining experience onboard Carnival Venezia.
Sails from New York City
For the next 17 months, Carnival Venezia will serve as a homeport in New York City, offering a remarkable convenience for those residing in the Northeast. With this arrangement, residents in the region have the opportunity to embark on a cruise without the need to purchase flights or endure a lengthy 20-hour drive to Florida. Carnival Venezia presents a convenient and accessible option, allowing more people to embark on a memorable cruise experience right from their doorstep.
Best Sailaway Views
Departing from the west side of midtown Manhattan, Carnival Venezia offers unparalleled sail away views, surpassing any other U.S. port. As you cruise down the Hudson, you’ll be treated to the breathtaking spectacle of the iconic New York City skyline on one side and the majestic Statue of Liberty on the other.
