Emanuele Lauro’s Scorpio Commercial Management and Mercuria Shipping have created a new aframax venture called Mercury Pool.
Increased Operational Performance
The tanker pool will have offices located in Switzerland, the UK, the US, and Singapore and starts out with six ships. “Both our companies have world-class reputations. This joint venture will be of great benefit to clients and owners willing to join the pool, as we believe the financial and operational performance of their vessels will increase significantly,” said Larry Johnson, global head of freight and shipping at Mercuria.

Marco Bessone, business development manager at Scorpio Commercial, added: “We are delighted to collaborate with Mercuria in this joint venture. Mercuria and Scorpio over the years have developed a very close relationship, and both hold a clear vision of how they see the development of the aframax market.” Existing aframax pools include ones operated by Maersk Tankers and Signal Group.
