Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has allegedly ordered 10 new LNG-powered container vessels from Zhoushan Changhong International Shipyard, reports Xinde Marine News.

According to several reports, MSC has ten LNG-powered vessels with a capacity of around 10,000 TEU scheduled for delivery in the next two years. The company had already placed an order for boats of similar sort in early 2023.

The vessels are designed with improved efficiency in order to minimize emissions. The order has reportedly set back MSC approximately one billion dollars.

Generally, LNG orders are increasing. In July, fourteen LNG-fueled ships were added to DNV’s Alternative Fuels Insight (AFI) database, with car carriers and huge tankers driving the increase.
