China’s CNOOC inaugurated a 174,000 cbm LNG carrier, the largest ever built in China, at Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding. The vessel, named Pan Asia, is part of a four-vessel order placed by BG Group, now part of Shell, with Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding in July 2014.
Highlights :
- The vessel is a dual-fuel diesel electric (DFDE) LNG tanker.
- LNG tanker has a length of 290 meters, width of over 45 meters and a draft of over 26 meters.
- The ship has a total tank capacity of about 174,000 cubic meters, after loading LNG vaporization capacity will reach 107 million cubic meters.
- The ship is expected to bring about 1.5 million tons of LNG every year from Australia and other Asia Pacific nations.
- All four vessels will operate under 20-year time-charter deals with Methane Services Limited, a unit of BG Group.
The ownership of the four vessels is split between Teekay, China LNG Shipping (CLNG), CNOOC Energy Technology & Services (CETS), a unit of CNOOC, and BW Group.
Deliveries of the four vessels are scheduled between 2017 and 2019.
