Post combustion CCS system absorbs CO2 from a vessel’s exhaust gas that is heated to capture CO2 and then liquefied and stored cryogenically onboard.
ERMA FIRST’s CCS
Lloyd’s Register (LR) has granted Approval in Principle (AiP) to ERMA FIRST for its Carbon Capture & Storage (CCS) system. The CCS technology uses amine absorption to capture CO2 emissions, creating a regenerative loop for storage.
This innovation helps ship owners meet stringent emission reduction targets and extends vessel lifecycles.
LR’s AiP marks an important milestone, allowing ERMA FIRST to proceed with onboard pilot testing, building on the success of their ballast water treatment system, ERMA FIRST FIT BWTS, which received LR’s type approval in November 2018.
