‘Black Gold’ from a 4,000-year-old shipwreck

The shipwreck is near the Grotto Bianca (Grotta Bianca) sea cave in Capri, Italy. Obsidian gold, a purple-black volcanic glass, was discovered in these remains. It is reported to weigh around eight kilograms. The search for this shipwreck began on the 20th of this year.

According to experts, obsidian is a wonderful and unique stone that has long been used to make cutting tools. It is often referred to as the black gold of the Stone Age. Obsidian is formed by the rapid freezing of lava. Its texture is smooth. It is said to be a protective gem. ‘Black Gold’ is very popular in the stone market. And its value is very high.

Researchers also plan to find the San Jose Galleon, a Spanish ship that sank in the Caribbean in 1708 during a battle with the British navy. The ship is believed to have treasure worth $16 billion.
