Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS) celebrated the steel-cutting ceremony for an oil product tanker owned by Eastern Pacific Shipping (EPS), a Singapore-based ship management company, reports offshore energy.
Vessel Details
The vessel, named H1582, marks SWS’s first 114,000-ton Aframax product oil tanker for EPS. It boasts dimensions of 249.95 meters in length, 44.0 meters in molded width, and 21.2 meters in molded depth, with a design draft of 13.5 meters. Operating at a speed of 14.5 knots, it’s equipped for efficient travel.
Key Features and Specifications
Fitted with a MAN B&W 6G60ME-C10.5 main engine, the vessel is designed to meet the TIER III specifications of the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
Design and Classification
SWS independently carried out the detailed design. Lloyd’s Register (LR) will classify the ship, ensuring it meets stringent standards.
Future Projects and Expansion
SWS simultaneously commenced construction on the second 114,000-ton Aframax product oil tanker, ordered by Greek ship manager Thenamaris. This vessel, H1573, mirrors the specifications of the EPS-ordered tanker.
Milestone for SWS
H1573 and H1582 are among the 24th and 25th vessels initiated for construction by SWS in 2023, highlighting their substantial progress in shipbuilding.
Expansion Plans by EPS
EPS’s order includes two 93,000 cbm liquid ammonia carriers, demonstrating their diversification beyond oil tankers. Notably, they’ve also placed orders for additional vessels from various shipbuilders, expanding their fleet significantly.
