Stena Bulk has signed long-term charter agreements for four newbuilt eco Medium Range (MR) tankers. These agreements involve a five-year charter from an undisclosed private Japanese shipowner major, reports Offshore Energy.

Vessel Details

Two vessels, namely Stena Continent and Stena Conquest, are slated for delivery from Hyundai Mipo by the end of 2025.

Two additional eco MR tankers, Stena Contender and Stena Concept, are expected to follow in 2026.

All vessels will utilize the latest 8th-generation MR tanker design from the South Korean yard, known for its efficiency.

Fuel Efficiency and Compliance

The 8th-generation design enables the ships to consume a mere 15 metric tons of fuel per day when laden at 13 knots.

Furthermore, the vessels are equipped with scrubbers to ensure compliance with global sulfur cap regulations.

Market Impact

Stena Bulk emphasizes that the delivery of Stena Convoy and Stena Conductor in 2022 set a new standard for fuel efficiency among MR tankers.
