ClassNK has granted its Excellent Living and Working Environment notation to “ELETTRA”, a bulk carrier owned by Fuyo Kaiun Co., Ltd., marking the first vessel in the ClassNK registry to receive this notation.

This notation signifies adherence to requirements outlined in ClassNK’s “Guidelines for Excellent Living and Working Environment”, reports ClassNK.

Background

As part of its “Innovation Endorsement” service, ClassNK facilitates the recognition of innovative technologies and initiatives in the maritime industry.

The initiative aims to endorse measures and facilities contributing to onboard environment enhancement.

Fuyo Kaiun’s Initiative

Fuyo Kaiun Co., Ltd. plans to enhance crew welfare by implementing the “DENBA+ Marine” freshness preservation system developed by DENBA JAPAN Corporation.

This system, installed in the food storage room, ensures the freshness of foodstuffs, improving the crew’s food environment and reducing food loss.

Innovation Endorsement Certification

The “DENBA+ Marine” system has obtained ClassNK’s Innovation Endorsement certification for Products & Solutions, validating its effectiveness and compliance with industry standards.

Examination Process

Following Fuyo Kaiun’s application, ClassNK conducted a thorough examination of the “ELETTRA”, the first vessel equipped with the “DENBA+ Marine” system.

The examination, based on ClassNK’s guidelines, confirmed compliance with prescribed requirements, leading to the affixing of the “ELW” notation to the vessel.
