  • French cable laying and repair specialist Orange Marine has strengthened its collaboration with Opsealog, a provider of data integration and analysis solutions for the maritime industry.
  • This renewed and expanded service contract signifies a mutual commitment to advancing digitalization and operational efficiency across Orange Marine’s fleet.

A History of Successful Collaboration

The partnership began in May 2023 with a successful three-month trial on the cable-laying vessel ‘Pierre de Fermat’. The positive results led to a contract renewal in September 2023, extending Opsealog’s innovative solutions to additional Orange Marine vessels. As of April 2024, the partnership has grown even further, now encompassing a total of four vessels.

Streamlining Operations Through Digital Transformation

Opsealog’s tools, Marinsights, and Streamlog, are now deployed on these four vessels, playing a crucial role in enhancing the accuracy and efficiency of data collection and reporting processes. This digital transformation replaces the previously manual and spreadsheet-based methods, leading to significant streamlining of Orange Marine’s operations.

Key Achievements: Digitalization for Efficiency and Sustainability

The collaboration has yielded several key achievements, including the digitalization of the fleet with monthly reports detailing vessel performance. Opsealog’s solutions also enable automated tracking and reporting of CO2 and SOx emissions to ensure compliance with upcoming environmental regulations. Additionally, precise documentation of vessel activity, including time spent in transit, operations, and port standby, is now captured electronically.

Tailored Solutions and Regulatory Compliance

The collaboration extends beyond simply implementing off-the-shelf solutions. Opsealog has developed new features specifically tailored to Orange Marine’s needs, such as a TimeSheet module for Streamlog to facilitate efficient and consistent reporting of marine mammal observations and avoidance measures, complying with French regulations to protect these creatures.

In addition to Opsealog’s core data analysis solutions, Orange Marine also utilizes the company’s certified Garbage Record Book and Oil Record Book to meet the stringent reporting requirements of the Orange Group.

Global Reach and A Future-Proof Fleet

Orange Marine vessels operate under various Cable Maintenance agreements, spanning vast regions from the Atlantic and Northern Europe to the Mediterranean, Black Sea, Red Sea, and beyond. The current contract with Opsealog encompasses not only Orange Marine’s laying vessels but also one currently operating in the Pacific Ocean.

This renewed and expanded partnership reflects a shared dedication to leveraging digital solutions for operational excellence and environmental compliance across Orange Marine’s global operations.
