GTT Secures FSRU Tank Design Order From HD Hyundai Heavy Industries

117

  • GTT, a designer of cryogenic storage tanks for liquefied gases, has won a contract to design the tanks for a new FSRU (floating storage and regasification unit) being built by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries for Mitsui O.S.K. Lines.
  • The tanks will use GTT’s Mark III technology and have a capacity of 170,000 cubic meters. Delivery of the FSRU is expected in Q3 2027.

GTT (Euronext Paris: GTT), a leader in cryogenic membrane containment systems for the maritime transportation and storage of liquefied gases, announces a new order in the second quarter of 2024.

About the Project

  • Client: HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI), a Korean shipyard, on behalf of the Japanese ship-owner Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL)
  • Project: Design of tanks for a new Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU)
  • Tank Capacity: 170,000 cubic meters
  • Containment System: GTT’s Mark III membrane technology
  • Delivery: Scheduled for the third quarter of 2027

About the FSRU

FSRUs are stationary vessels used for the storage and regasification of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG). They receive LNG from LNG carriers, store it, and then convert it back into gas for distribution.

GTT’s Role

GTT will design the tanks for this FSRU, utilizing their innovative Mark III membrane containment system. This technology offers several advantages, including:

  • Efficiency
  • Reliability
  • Safety

About GTT

GTT is a technology and engineering group with over 60 years of experience in cryogenic membrane containment systems. They are committed to developing solutions that support the maritime industry’s transition to a sustainable future. Their areas of focus include:

  • LNG as a fuel for commercial vessels
  • Digital solutions for improved vessel performance
  • Zero-carbon solutions, including green hydrogen
