  • Höegh Autoliners, a leader in car and truck carrier transportation, has signed a new contract with Kongsberg Digital to provide advanced simulator training for crews of their upcoming Aurora Class vessels.
  • These new ships will be the largest and most environmentally friendly Pure Car and Truck Carriers (PCTCs) ever built, and Höegh Autoliners is committed to ensuring their crews are well-trained to operate them safely and efficiently.

The agreement includes K-Sim Navigation and Engine Simulator models specifically designed to replicate the Aurora Class bridge systems and hybrid fuel technology (LNG and Marine Gas Oil).

Future-Proof Training

The engine simulator will be adaptable to accommodate the planned switch to ammonia propulsion systems in the future Aurora Class ships.

Green Commitment

This investment in crew training underscores Höegh Autoliners’ leadership in the green shift of maritime transportation by promoting sustainable practices.

Enhanced Crew Competency

The simulators will be delivered to the Norwegian Training Centre (NTC) in Manila for training Höegh’s officers and marine engineers.

Investing in a Sustainable Future

“The partnership with Kongsberg Digital is an important component of our strategy to lead the green shift in maritime transportation,” said Andreas Enger, CEO of Höegh Autoliners. “By investing in advanced training solutions like the K-Sim Navigation and K-Sim Engine simulators, we are not only enhancing our crew’s competencies but also reinforcing our commitment to environmental stewardship.”

Equipping Crews for Success

The advanced simulators will provide Höegh Autoliners’ crews with a realistic training environment to hone their skills in navigating the complex Aurora Class vessels and operating their hybrid and future ammonia propulsion systems. This investment ensures a smooth transition for the new ships while maintaining the highest safety and environmental standards.
