MOL And TSS Expand Offshore Wind Fleet With Third Methanol-Ready Service Operation Vessel

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL) and Ta Tong Marine (TSS) have announced their joint venture, Ta San Shang Marine Co. Ltd. (TSSM), signed a deal with the Damen Group for a new service operation vessel (SOV). This will be TSSM’s third SOV, following the TSS Pioneer and TSS Cruiser. The new vessel, designed to be methanol-ready, is scheduled for delivery at the end of 2026 and will support offshore wind farms in Taiwan.

TSSM’s new SOV will bolster their fleet, enhancing their capability to support offshore wind farms in Taiwan. This addition aligns with MOL’s strategic goal to expand its SOV business in Asia.

Features and Specifications

The new SOV will have a dynamic positioning system and a motion-compensated gangway and crane, ensuring safe transfer of personnel and supplies to offshore wind farms. It will be 87.7 meters long, 19.7 meters wide, with a max capacity of 120.

Contribution to Clean Energy

The vessel will play a crucial role in advancing Taiwan’s offshore wind power business. It reflects the commitment of MOL and TSSM to support clean energy initiatives and contribute to the goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions.
