The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) has achieved a score of 231.7 points in the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development’s (UNCTAD) Liner Shipping Connectivity Index (LSCI) for the second quarter of 2024. This accomplishment reflects the Authority’s ongoing efforts to enhance the competitiveness of Saudi Arabian ports on a regional and global scale.
Infrastructure Upgrades
- Completion of the Red Sea Gateway Terminal in Jeddah Islamic Port (investment: SAR 1 billion).
- Deepening of the northwestern approach channel in Jeddah Islamic Port (length: 3,000 meters, width: 300 meters, new depth:5 meters).
Commercial Support
- Contracts worth SAR 7 billion signed with Saudi Global Ports (SGP).
- Acquisition of six coastal and bridge cranes for King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam to improve operational efficiency and handle large vessels effectively.
Enhanced Connectivity
Establishment of 14 new shipping services at Jeddah Islamic Port, King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam, and Jubail Commercial Port through strategic partnerships with international shipping lines.
Logistics Hub Development

- Creation of a logistics zone at Jeddah Islamic Port in collaboration with MEDLOG (investment: SAR 175 million).
- Construction of a logistics center for Bahri, the national shipping carrier of Saudi Arabia (area: 95,436 square meters).
- Foundation laid for a large integrated logistics zone (total area: 415,000 square meters, investment: over SAR 500 million) in partnership with Dubai World.
