GTT Receives Order For LNG Carrier Tank Design From Dalian Shipbuilding

  • French engineering firm GTT has announced a new order for the design of liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier tanks.
  • The company, a world leader in membrane containment systems for LNG transportation and storage, secured the contract from Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co. Ltd. in the second quarter of 2024.

Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co. Ltd. is building the vessels on behalf of Ocean Jade Investment Ltd., a joint venture between Hong Kong shipowner Wah Kwong, Chinese leasing company CSSC (Hong Kong) Shipping and China Gas Holdings.

  • Vessel Capacity: Each of the two new LNG carriers will have a capacity of 175,000 cubic meters.
  • Tank Design Technology: GTT will utilize their innovative Mark III Flex membrane containment system for the tanks.
  • Delivery Schedule: The delivery of the vessels is expected to take place sometime between the first and second quarters of 2028.
