Sirius Shipping Expands Partnership with Manta Marine Technologies

Manta Marine Technologies (MMT) has secured an order to supply two FuelOpt™ systems for Sirius Shipping’s upcoming Sirius Evolution 15K product/chemical tankers. These systems will optimize fuel efficiency and support Just-in-Time Arrival (JIT) operations, enhancing the sustainability of marine transportation.

Supporting Sustainable Marine Transportation
The 15,000 dwt vessels, which will be chartered by Preem Shipping, are set to become key components of Preem’s next-generation system for the sustainable transportation of renewable raw materials and refined products. By adopting a JIT approach, Preem aims to reduce fuel consumption by adjusting vessel speeds so that ships arrive precisely when needed, avoiding unnecessary fuel burn and idle time at ports.

Expanding the Sirius-MMT Collaboration
Sirius Shipping has been a regular user of MMT’s Fleet Analytics™ tool, and the new FuelOpt™ order marks an expansion of this relationship. FuelOpt™ systems are already installed on six Sirius Shipping vessels, and these additional orders highlight the tool’s versatility in optimizing ship operations. The system will ensure vessels maintain the target speed set by voyage instructions, aligning with JIT operations to reduce emissions and enhance environmentally friendly practices.

FuelOpt™: A Future-Proof Solution
FuelOpt™ is designed as a fuel-agnostic solution, offering up to 10% fuel-saving benefits regardless of the fuel type. Should Sirius Shipping decide to convert the methanol-ready vessels to methanol in the future, FuelOpt™ will continue to deliver significant fuel efficiency.

Industry Leadership and Commitment to Zero Emissions
Richard Bjercke, Chief Commercial Officer at MMT, expressed pride in the continued partnership with Sirius Shipping, emphasizing their shared commitment to reducing shipping emissions. He highlighted the strong reputation and operational value of FuelOpt™, particularly when paired with high-quality ships and JIT operations.

Jonas Backman, Managing Director of Sirius Shipping, reaffirmed the company’s dedication to its “Pathway-to-Zero” commitment, which focuses on minimizing vessel emissions through operational efficiency. He praised FuelOpt™ as a valuable tool across the fleet and expressed confidence in its ability to enhance the efficiency of the upcoming Evolution 15K series.

Conclusion
The two Sirius Evolution 15K product/chemical tankers, equipped with FuelOpt™, are scheduled for delivery in the second half of 2026. This collaboration between Sirius Shipping and MMT represents a significant step forward in sustainable marine transportation, combining cutting-edge technology with a strong commitment to environmental stewardship.
