Kumport Terminal Istanbul has become the latest organization to join the Portchain Connect network, with plans to utilise the system to increase the quality and speed of berth alignment with customers through digital handshakes and secure data sharing, reports Smart Maritime Network.

The software will enable the terminal to receive real-time schedule and move count updates directly from shipping lines’ own systems, allowing Kumport to respond and counter propose based on dynamically changing conditions to align vessel schedules with the terminal berth plan.
“Being part of Portchain Connect has transformed our approach to berth planning, automating data exchange and enhancing collaboration,” said İlyas Gürsoy, Deputy Planning Manager at Kumport Terminal Istanbul.
The Portchain Connect platform allows terminals and carriers to share and receive data and reduce delays in information transmission, delivering an overview of all vessel calls and supporting the transfer of digital berthing information.
